The West Coast Impact girls’ volleyball team made history last week by claiming the Division III National Homeschool Championship at the National Christian Homeschool Volleyball Championships (NCHVC) in Lawrence, Kansas. The tournament, held from October 15 to 18, brought together top homeschool volleyball teams from across the country, and the West Coast Impact left no doubt about their dominance.
A Tournament to Remember
The path to victory was no easy feat, with the competition featuring a multitude of skilled teams. The West Coast Impact’s journey began with a series of decisive wins in the group stages, where their teamwork, resilience, and tactical prowess were on full display.
Coached by Jodie Joslin and Adriene Lepp, the Impact emphasized a balanced approach to their games, blending a solid defensive foundation with aggressive attacks. Setter Melia Kim orchestrated the offense with precision, while outside hitter Elizabeth Fetzer delivered clutch plays throughout the tournament.
In the semi-final match, the West Coast Impact faced the Springfield Sparks from Missouri. Impact rose to the occasion, showcasing their best performance of the tournament. Middle blocker Karmynne Hazewood dominated at the net with timely blocks and kills, while libero Anabelle Gomez anchored the defense with incredible digs.
Championship Glory
The final matchup was a nail-biter, with Impact battling the SA Patriots from Texas, a formidable team with a strong championship pedigree in a five-set thriller. Fueled by a supportive crowd and their never-give-up attitude, the girls rallied from down 1-2 after set 3 to tie it up after set 4.
With the championship on the line, the team’s synergy proved unstoppable. They clinched the title in set 5 17-15, igniting celebrations among players, coaches, and traveling fans.
Teamwork and Dedication
“This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every single player on this team,” said Coach Jodie. “We came together as a family, and that unity made all the difference. I’m so proud of these girls.”
Anabelle Gomez reflected on the journey, saying, “We’ve faced challenges all season, but this group never stopped believing in each other. Winning the national championship is a dream come true, and we’re grateful for everyone who supported us along the way.”
