What you'll do

Disciple through sports

  • Use training and games to guide athletes in their faith — spiritual growth above skill
  • Blend the season with prayer, scripture, and team talks
  • Make the 3–4 months count for eternity, not just the standings

Teach biblical values

  • Instill humility, grace, and integrity in every player
  • Promote competition as a godly pursuit (1 Corinthians 9:24–27)
  • Reject the idea that everyone deserves a trophy — help athletes grow through adversity

Model Christ-like conduct

  • Lead the team to greet opponents as brothers in Christ
  • Keep composure under every circumstance all season
  • Train athletes to play honestly, respectfully, and with character

Lead, compete & encourage

  • Plan and run effective practices and game strategy
  • Coach the team to strive for victory humbly — eternal rewards over earthly prizes
  • Use positive words to strengthen every athlete

What we look for

  • A strong, committed faith and agreement with our Statement of Faith
  • A heart for youth ministry — sports as a tool, ministry as the goal
  • The ability to coach or compete, and to teach the game
  • Leadership that motivates with patience and firmness
  • Integrity, humility, and grace — on and off the court
  • Clear communication to share biblical truth and unite a team

New to coaching? You're not alone — our mentorship program walks with you every step of the way. And if you're not sure, we recommend starting as an assistant coach. Either way, you'll enjoy real, equally-yoked competition with a family behind you.

Don't worry — your hub is here: Everything you need lives in one spot, right here on the website — rosters, schedules, practice plans, and team contacts. No juggling apps or hunting for info — it's all set up and ready when you step in.

Working conditions: A seasonal 3–4 month role with evening practices and limited weekends. You'll work alongside the WCI Board, directors, fellow coaches, volunteers, and parents — and treat every loss, conflict, or delay as a chance to grow.

Why join us?

This is a calling to shape young lives for Christ through sports.

You'll use competition to teach purpose and grace, impacting athletes for eternity. If you see adversity as a chance to grow, competition as biblical, and ministry as greater than medals — this is your role.
